I freelance as a composer, cellist, pianist, singer, accordionist, and musical director. As well as working on my own creative projects, I am available as a session musician and score arranger.

I write a mixture of contemporary classical, neo-folk and art-song for the stage, screen and concert hall with a specialism in visual theatre soundtracks.

  • Artist in Residence at The Glasshouse: International Centre for Music (previously Sage Gateshead) 2022-2023 to compose and debut Requiem for a Fading World 

  • 'Fantasy for Viola and Orchestra' commission from the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra, performed in May 2019 in Hull City Hall with soloist Timothy Ridout

  • 2008 Winner of the National Centre for Early Music Composers Competition for 'Stabat Mater', with performance from The Tallis Scholars

  • Arranger and Musical Director for Whole Hog Theatre's stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli's 'Princess Mononoke', which toured to London and Japan in 2013

  • 'Storytold' string ensemble commission from Insight Ensemble to accompanying live circus in 2018

  • Composer of score for HEDGE dance and theatre show with The D Project

  • Co-Composer for 'Rum Punch Circus Musical' with Rosie Bristow

  • Co-composer alongside Ralph Stokes for puppet show 'Microbodyssey' by Tatwood Puppets      

  • Co-composer with Aeyther for theatre show 'The Vampire Rabbit' by Circus Central

  • Composer for 4M Puppets / Theatre Space NE's production of 'The Christmas Carol' performed in Newcastle Castle

  • Musical Director for Circus Central between 2015 - 2017

I enjoy playing cello, piano, accordion and singing in a variety of different genres on different projects. I am an experienced improviser but am also very comfortable with a score. 

Previous and current performance credits include:

  • Second Tenor in the Royal Northern Sinfonia Chorus

  • Session musician cellist for Holy Moly and the Crackers in live performance and on their second studio album 'Salem'

  • Multi-instrumentalist for two pantomime seasons at The Georgian Theatre Royal Richmond between 2015 - 2017

  • Session musician accordionist for Backyard Rhythm Orchestra, including performances at Boomtown Fair and Freedom on the Tyne

  • Cellist and pianist for contemporary classical band Aeyther, including performances at Shambala Festival, SageGateshead, Alphabetti Theatre, ARC Stockton and on Let's Circus projects between 2016 - 2018, as well as a on studio album 'Into the Forest'

  • Previous cellist in Hull Philharmonic Orchestra, New Tyneside Orchestra Hull University Symphony Orchestra and Royal Holloway Orchestra
